Shirt: Old Navy Skirt: Old Navy Sandals: Payless Necklace: Forever 21

Oof, sorry about the crappy iPhone photo and cheesy grin, you guys!  My regular camera was being super funky today and not letting me upload any photos, so you're stuck with the old iPhone...

I did not have to work or go to class this morning, so I was able to sleep in a little bit (8:00!  Woooo!) and work on some homework before hitting the gym.  Ten minutes into my workout, an episode of What Not to Wear came on...so instead of spending the 30 minutes I intended to on the treadmill, I stayed on for the whole episode...I burned 700 calories, though, so that was awesome!  I just love What Not to Wear, and I'm so sad it's going off the air!  I really hope that TLC keeps playing it in syndication, because it's so entertaining.  I've learned a lot about how to dress my body through the show as well, and how to become more confident in my skin.  Plus, it's shows like this (and trashy reality TV) that make my workouts go super fast!!  Please tell me I'm not the only one who watches trashy reality TV on the treadmill...

Dress: Target, thrifted new Belt: The Limited Wedges: Payless

Another simple outfit for me!  It's super hot outside today and I wanted something that would keep me cool and comfortable.  We cleaned our apartment all morning so things are clean and tidy before my last summer class starts tomorrow, ran a few errands, and had a lunch date at Panera (Caesar salad = yum!).  It was a great Sunday!  I'm relaxing this afternoon watching Gilmore Girls while I get my school stuff organized, catch up on blogs, etc.

This week of vacation has been awesome - I'm back into the swing of things tomorrow!!

I hope you all enjoyed your weekend as well!

Tee: Old Navy Blazer: Old Navy Shorts: Old Navy Wedges: Payless Necklace: Gift

Some of my latest reflections:

Ultimately, I am really happy with who I am.  I am a good person who does the right thing, cares for others, but also places a lot of importance on caring for myself.  I'm smart, friendly, and talented.  I have a compassionate heart, particularly for children and animals.

The way that I had always pictured my life is not really what I want anymore.  I want more from life - I want purpose and excitement and meaningful relationships.  I won't be content to just keep on going through the motions.

I want to start living more for me, and not somebody else.  My life is my life and as long as I keep on doing the right thing and treating others well, I am capable of making my own decisions.  I am lucky to have a partner who feels similarly.  We both make sacrifices so that each other can be happy as individuals and as a united couple.

I'm not 100% sure what is in the future for me, but I'm going to do my absolute best to make intentional decisions so I don't get bored with my safe, expected life.

I Miss You!

Tee: Target Skirt: Old Navy Scarf: Old Navy Shoes: Payless

I've been trying my best to keep up with blogging despite my crazy class and work schedule, but it's been a little tricky, so please bear with me!  I've been missing it a lot (including reading and commenting on your blogs, too!!), but I haven't had the time to really sit down and catch up yet.  I really wanted to participate in Audrey's 7x7 remix this week, but I didn't have time to prep for it :(  That kind of thing is right up my alley (showing the versatility of your wardrobe!) so I'm bummed that I missed out.  I have been really toying with the idea of doing some kind of 30x30 remix a la Kendi, and even have my 30 pieces picked out...what do you think?  Should I go for it??  I could also create some kind of linky party (even though I really, really hate that term) if any of you want to join.

As for today's outfit, I love it!  I tried on about 4 or 5 different things today until I landed on this.  I really love this skirt, but sometimes I struggle with styling it.  I'm slowly warming up to pattern mixing (but it has to be a little more subtle...I wouldn't wear a polka dot blouse with this skirt!) and I like how the stripes and leopard print look together.  And, you guys, I'm wearing wedges again!  They're pretty comfortable, and totally do-able for a full day of classes.

Thanks again for bearing with me and my sporadic posting/commenting.  I miss you all and hope to get into my summer routine soon!!!

Dress: Macy's Cardigan: Target Belt: Goodwill Tights: Target Wedges: Kohls

Today, I'm thrilled to be subbing in for my dear blogger friend, Whitney from Along the Lines of Style while she takes her students on a camping trip!  Stop on by to learn a little more about my job working on a college campus and how it affects my style!

Gleek!

Tank: Old Navy Blazer: Target Pants: NY&C Necklace: F21 Boots: Target Wedges: Kohls

I'm posting two incredibly similar photos today.  In the first photo, I'm wearing my trusty black boots, and in the second photo, I'm wearing black wedges.  I just wanted to see how the outfit looked with each pair of shoes.  What do you prefer?  Boots or wedges?

I listen to music in the shower every morning.  I love the show Glee (even when it sucks), and I have a playlist of Glee songs on my iPod.  This morning, I turned on the music, put my Glee playlist on shuffle, and the first song that came up was the Glee version of Rebecca Black's "Friday."  Now, the song is stuck in my head.  I apologize to anyone I have to see today, because I'm probably going to be humming "Friday" all. day. long.  HAPPY FRIDAY.

[PS. Do you like how the sun is shining on my face this morning?  I feel like I'm an angel.  Or Jesus.]

Band Geek

Dress: Target (super old...) Tights: Target Wedges: Kohls Necklace: Gift from parents

I was a massive band geek in high school.  I mainly played flute and piccolo in band, but I also played clarinet, and have dabbled in trumpet and saxophone.  One semester in high school, I played in two different bands and was a teacher's assistant for a different band.  Yup, I was that kid.  I bought this dress in high school for band concerts, because we needed to wear all black.  When I went to college, I left this dress at my parents' house, and they just recently found it and gave it back to me.  I'm super happy about it, because I can throw it on in a pinch and look like I tried.

Dark Dr. Seuss

Tee: Target Skirt: Target Cardigan: Target Tights: JCPenney Wedges: Skechers (sooo old) Necklace: F21

My striped tights totally remind me of Dr. Seuss.  They're a little quirky and different, but I love them.  They're actually sweater tights, so they're super cozy and warm.  I also love this skirt.  The front panel is a shiny/suede-like material that adds a little interest to the plain black pencil skirt.  Also, in the back of the skirt is a gold exposed zipper.  You couldn't see it today because of my cardigan, but I'm excited to wear this skirt in the spring/summer with a tee so you can see the fun zipper!

This weekend, Kevin and I did a whole lot of nothing, and it was perfect.  We spent Friday, Saturday, and Sunday evenings at the gym and spent our days working on homework. We did, as I posted on Saturday, finish watching Firefly.  I really loved the show, but I wish it hadn't gotten cancelled after the first season!  There are so many unanswered questions!  Do any of you have a favorite television short that was cancelled before its time?
